PO creation for Generic articles

Hi Team,

We are using BAPIs BAPI_PO_CREATE1 for creating PO  for Generic Articles using BAPIs but couldn't find any parameter in BAPI where we could pass Generic Article characteristics based on which it will add the Variant Article underneath as sub PO item. Currently we are directly passing Variant Article number in PO item to create/change PO using these BAPIs.

Using transaction ME21N we are able to create POs with Generic Article where we maintain the Generic Article and Characteristics(Color and Size) based on which it automatically includes the Variant Articles as the sub items of corresponding Generic Article in PO item.

Please let me know if we can create POs using above BAPIs by passing Generic Article and its characteristics or if there are any other BAPI/Function module using which we can achieve the similar results for create/changing POs for Generic Article.
