I have the exact same issue. Same error message when I try to connect to the CMS with the Information Design Tool. I have the BO 4.1 SP02 on the new BO SERVER and on my laptop with Client Tools.
Has someone solved this issue? 
We cannot continue to upgrade without being able to connect to our Universes and Connections.
